The third generation Acura TL is a well-built sporty high-end sedan with sharp styling, solid-body handling and high-tech interior with a luxurious feel. The list of available features includes HID headlights, Bluetooth and a Navigation System with Voice Identification. TL scored high in NHTSA frontal crash tests.
On the downside, TL requires gasoline with at least 87.2 octane, and Acura parts don't come cheap.
The 2004-2008 Acura TL has front wheel drive with a transversely mounted 3.2L SOHC VTEC V6 engine. The Sport Types model added for 2007 offered a more powerful 3.5L V6.
Transmission choices included a 6-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic.
The Acura TL has four-wheel independent suspension with double wishbone in the front and multi-link in the back.
All four wheels have disc brakes. Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS) and Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with Traction 2004 acura tl for Control are standard.
The interior of the TL is a mixture of sporty and luxurious. The fit and finish are excellent. The driver's seat is very supportive and comfortable on a long trip. The dashboard looks sharp. I like the controls on the steering wheel and the fact that many features can be personalized. The sound system sounds great and if you still have tapes - there's even a tape player.
On the underside, the thick left windshield pillar makes visibility a bit difficult, the metal trim is easy to scratch, and the rear seat doesn't fold.
On the road, the Acura TL offers sporty handling with precise, responsive handling. The ride is firm, but road bumps are nicely absorbed. The car feels very stable and comfortable on a long highway drive. It's pretty quiet in the cockpit, but you can hear the muffled hum of the engine. The 3.2L V6 offers plenty of power, yet is very smooth. On the underside, the turning radius is quite wide.
In NHTSA frontal crash tests, the 2004-2008 Acura TL scored five stars for both driver and front passenger. In NHTSA side crash tests, the 2004-2008 Acura TL received four stars for front and five stars for rear seat protection. For more details visit Safercar.gov
